“Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.”
Matthew 5:11–12
⭐For the Christian who refuses to settle for halfway healing—because in Jesus Christ, there is forever freedom.⭐
The world will never understand the ways of God, especially when it comes to addiction recovery. Many want to label addiction only as a lifelong disease, or mock you when you say, “I am healed and free in Christ.” To them, your faith sounds foolish. But God’s Word reminds us that being mocked for His sake is not a sign of weakness—it is proof that you belong to Him.
The Apostle Paul knew this struggle well. He wrote, “But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty” (1 Corinthians 1:27). The world might laugh at your declaration of freedom, but God calls it wisdom, strength, and victory.
When others mock your faith or your way of recovery, remember: their laughter cannot undo God’s work. The enemy wants you to feel isolated, humiliated, and doubting your progress. But God calls you to stand firm. “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord” (1 Corinthians 15:58).
Every time the world sneers at your healing, you have an opportunity to show Christ’s power. They laughed at Noah when he built the ark. They mocked Jesus as He carried the cross. They will mock you too—but every laugh against you becomes a louder testimony of God’s grace and Power.
Your recovery is not dependent on the approval of the crowd. It rests on the promises of Jesus Christ, who said, “Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed” (John 8:36). That is the final word.
Questions to Ask Yourself
- How can I remind myself daily that God’s approval is greater than man’s opinion?
- In what ways am I tempted to hide my faith in recovery to avoid ridicule, and how can I resist that?
- What biblical examples of mocked believers inspire me to stay faithful in the face of opposition?
- How does the laughter of others test my commitment to Christ’s truth in my recovery?
- What specific truths from Scripture can I declare when others doubt my healing?
- How can I use the ridicule I face as a platform to share Christ’s freedom with boldness?
- What does it look like for me to rejoice and be exceedingly glad when mocked for my faith?

Prayer
Abba Father,
Thank You that in Christ I am fully and forever healed, fully and forever restored, and fully and forever free. When the world mocks me, remind me that their voices do not carry eternal weight—Your Word does. Help me to rejoice when I am ridiculed, knowing that my reward is in heaven. Strengthen me to stand firm, unashamed of the gospel, and let my recovery be a living testimony of Your power. I refuse to bow to the world’s opinions. I choose to walk boldly in the freedom Jesus purchased for me.
In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
