Awakening the Lion Inside You

“The wicked flee when no one pursues, But the righteous are bold as a lion.”
~ Proverbs 28:1

Discovering Holy Boldness and Strength in Christ

nside every believer is a power far greater than fear, addiction, or the opinions of others. It is the power of the Holy Spirit — the very Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead. That power gives you the courage to stand, to speak truth, to rise again when you’ve fallen. You are not weak. You are not powerless. You have the heart of a lion inside you — because Christ Himself lives within you.

God’s Strength in You

God did not create you to live timidly or in defeat.
2 Timothy 1:7 says: “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”
That “power” is divine strength — strength to overcome temptation, strength to persevere through trials, strength to face the enemy head-on and win.

The enemy would love to convince you that you are too broken, too far gone, or too weak to make it. But the lion inside you roars back with truth:
1 John 4:4 reminds you: “You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.”

Boldness in the Face of Opposition

Being bold as a lion doesn’t mean being reckless — it means walking confidently in God’s will, knowing that He is your defender.
Joshua 1:9 says:
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

When you walk in this holy boldness, fear loses its grip. Shame loses its voice. You no longer hide — you roar. In Jesus, you are NEVER powerless!

Fellowship Fuels Your Courage

Even lions do not live alone — they thrive in prides, protecting one another. You need fellowship to stay strong.
Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 says:
“Two are better than one, Because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, one will lift up his companion. But woe to him who is alone when he falls, For he has no one to help him up.”

Connecting with other believers who remind you who you are in Christ fans the flame of courage inside you. Their encouragement, prayers, and testimonies remind you that you are not fighting alone.

How a Recovery Coach Helps Unleash the Lion

Sometimes the lion inside you just needs to be awakened — and a Christian recovery coach can help. Proverbs 20:5 says: “Counsel in the heart of man is like deep water, But a man of understanding will draw it out.”

A coach helps you uncover the strength and courage God already placed inside you. We help you set goals, overcome fear, and stay accountable so you can walk boldly into the freedom God has for you.

Questions to Ask Yourself

  1. In what areas of my life do I feel timid or powerless — and what would boldness in Christ look like there?
  2. What fears hold me back from stepping into who God says I am?
  3. How can I speak God’s Word over my life when I feel weak or under attack?
  4. Who in my life can encourage and remind me of the strength God placed inside me?
  5. Am I surrounding myself with fellowship that builds me up, or with voices that feed my fear?
  6. How could working with a recovery coach help me break through fear and walk in courage?
  7. When was the last time I truly prayed and asked God to awaken the “lion” within me — and am I willing to act on what He shows me?

Prayer

Abba Father,
Thank You that You have placed boldness inside of me because Jesus lives in me. Awaken the lion within me so I can stand firm against the enemy, live without fear, and walk in my calling. Surround me with fellowship that strengthens my courage and draws me closer to You. If I need help stepping into that boldness, guide me to a recovery coach who will call out the strength You’ve placed inside me. I choose today to rise up and roar for Your glory.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
