FREED BY JESUS: SHARE YOUR STORY

Jesus freed you from addiction—your story can set others free too.
Every person struggling needs hope, a living example, and someone who has walked the path before them. Your testimony is more than words—it is the presence of Jesus in action. When you share it, you open the door for someone else to step into freedom.

Recovery is powerful, but it is also personal and sacred. Many who are sober forever feel hesitant to share their journey. Yet, the greatest blessing of recovery is not just freedom—it’s being a light for others still trapped.

This study is needed because mentoring someone else deepens your own recovery, strengthens faith, and multiplies the impact of Jesus’ work in your life. When you step up, you bring hope, guidance, and accountability to someone desperate for both.

“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
Matthew 28:19-20

YOUR STORY IS POWERFUL

Your testimony is a weapon against despair and addiction. Sharing how Jesus freed you creates a tangible example that freedom is possible. People are inspired not by theory but by proof—proof that someone has walked through the darkness and emerged alive and whole.

“And many who had believed came, confessing and telling their deeds.”
Acts 19:18

Confession and testimony are not just for repentance—they are tools for encouragement. When you tell your story, you plant seeds of hope, faith, and courage. Someone listening may be one word, one detail, or one moment away from saying, “I want that freedom too.”

Mentorship is an extension of your testimony. Being available to guide, encourage, and walk alongside someone in their recovery multiplies the impact of what Jesus has done in your life.

“Iron sharpens iron, so a man sharpens the countenance of his friend.”
Proverbs 27:17

Recovery thrives in connection. When you mentor, you are not only giving someone hope—you are building resilience in your own faith. Every question you answer, every prayer you lift, and every story you share strengthens your walk with Christ.

Remember, mentorship is about presence, not perfection. You don’t need to have all the answers. You simply need to be willing to point others to Jesus, share your journey honestly, and offer your time and encouragement.

“Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.”
Galatians 6:2

Being a mentor is obedience. It is service. And it is another way God’s light shines through your life to heal and deliver others.

QUESTIONS TO ASK YOURSELF FOR SELF-EXAMINATION

  1. How has Jesus’ freedom transformed me in ways others can relate to?

  2. What moments in my recovery would be most encouraging to share with someone else?

  3. Who in my life or community might need a mentor right now?

  4. How can I balance sharing my story with listening and understanding someone else’s struggles?

  5. In what ways does mentoring deepen my own walk with God?

  6. What fears or hesitations do I have about telling others how Jesus delivered me?

  7. How will I remain guided by the Holy Spirit when mentoring, rather than relying on my own strength?

🙏PRAYER

Abba Father,
Thank You for setting me free from addiction and for giving me a story that can bring hope to others. Lead me to those who need a mentor, and give me the words, wisdom, and courage to share my journey honestly. Help me point them to Jesus, not to myself, and bless the work of my hands in guiding them. May my testimony glorify You and lead others to Jesus and into Your freedom.
In Jesus name, Amen.
