Peace When the World Is Insane
You are trying to stay sober.
You are trying to follow Jesus.
You are trying to rebuild your life.
And the world around you looks like it is losing its mind — protests filled with rage, violence in the streets, hatred online, compassion growing cold.
You feel it in your chest.
You feel it in your thoughts.
You feel the old anxiety whispering, “What’s the point?”
But this is where your recovery becomes more than behavior change.
This is where it becomes spiritual survival.
Early recovery makes you emotionally exposed.
Your brain is healing.
Your nervous system is learning peace again.
Your faith is being tested in real time.
Chaos is dangerous for someone learning to live without numbing out.
If you do not learn how to anchor yourself in Christ while the world shakes, you will start looking for false anchors — distractions, anger, isolation, substances, or despair.
God never promised a calm world.
He promised His presence in the storm.
“These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”
John 16:33
HOW TO STAY SOBER AND STRONG IN A COLLAPSING WORLD
Jesus was honest with you.
He did not say, “In the world you might have problems.”
He said you will.
But notice where peace is found:
Not in politics.
Not in safety.
Not in society improving.
Peace is found “in Me.”
Your recovery depends on where your mind lives.
“You will keep him in perfect peace,
Whose mind is stayed on You,
Because he trusts in You.” Isaiah 26:3 (NKJV)
If your mind lives in the news cycle, you will live in fear.
If your mind lives in social media outrage, you will live in anger.
If your mind lives in Christ, you will live in stability even while everything else shakes.
The Bible warned you this would happen:
“And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold.” Matthew 24:12
You are watching prophecy unfold.
But God did not save you so you could drown in despair.
He saved you so you could shine in darkness.
“Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” Romans 12:21
Recovery is learning to respond differently.
The world reacts.
You respond.
The world hates.
You love.
The world panics.
You pray.
The world destroys.
You build.
And when your heart feels overwhelmed:
“God is our refuge and strength,
A very present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear,
Even though the earth be removed.” Psalm 46:1–2
Your sobriety is not fragile when God is your foundation.
Your peace is not imaginary when Jesus is your anchor.

PRAYER
Abba Father, I confess that the chaos of this world sometimes enters my heart. I see violence, hatred, and confusion, and I feel weak in my flesh. But You are my refuge. You are my stability. You are my peace.
Teach me to fix my mind on Jesus instead of fear. Guard my recovery from the noise of this broken world. Strengthen me when my emotions shake. Anchor me when everything around me feels unstable.
Let my life prove that Your power is greater than darkness. Let my sobriety testify that freedom in Christ is real. Teach me to walk calmly while the world runs wildly.
I place my mind, my healing, and my future in Your hands alone, in Jesus name.
