PRAISE HIM BEFORE EVERYTHING FALLS APART

Before you panic, before you spiral, before you quit—praise Jesus. Praise is not what you do after God fixes things. Praise is what keeps you standing while everything is shaking.

In recovery, silence is dangerous. Isolation is dangerous. When praise stops, fear and despair grow loud. Many people wait until things improve before praising God, but Scripture shows the opposite—God moves in praise. This study is needed because praising Jesus invites His presence into the very place where everything feels like it’s falling apart.

“But You are holy, enthroned in the praises of Israel.”

Psalm 22:3

WHY PRAISE MUST COME FIRST

God does not merely respond to praise—He inhabits it. When you praise Jesus, you are making room for His presence, authority, and peace right in the middle of chaos.

“I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.”
Psalm 34:1

Praise realigns your soul. It lifts your eyes from circumstances to sovereignty. It reminds you that God is present even when answers are not.

Praise is not limited to singing. Praise is expressed through words, obedience, gratitude, and faith-filled action.

“Let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name.”
Hebrews 13:15

You praise Jesus when you speak truth instead of fear.
You praise Jesus when you thank Him before you see the breakthrough.
You praise Jesus when you obey Him even while emotions resist.

“Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not.”
Lamentations 3:22

Praise is also spiritual warfare. When you praise first, you shut down the enemy’s voice and invite God’s intervention.

“And when they began to sing and to praise, the Lord set ambushes against the people of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir.”
2 Chronicles 20:22

Praise changes the atmosphere because God inhabits it.

DIFFERENT WAYS YOU CAN PRAISE JESUS

  • Speaking Scripture out loud when fear tries to dominate

  • Thanking God intentionally for who He is, not just what He does

  • Singing worship—alone, quietly, or corporately

  • Obeying God when it would be easier to disobey

  • Testifying about what Jesus has already brought you through

  • Choosing gratitude instead of complaining

  • Surrendering your will and trusting God fully

Praise is a lifestyle, not a moment.

QUESTIONS TO ASK YOURSELF FOR SELF-EXAMINATION

  1. What is usually your first response when pressure increases?

  2. How do your words change when circumstances feel overwhelming?

  3. In what ways have you seen praise shift your mindset in the past?

  4. Where have worry or silence replaced praise in your life?

  5. How does praise help you remain grounded during uncertainty?

  6. What form of praise feels most difficult for you—and why?

  7. What would change if praise became your first response instead of your last?

PRAYER

Abba Father, I choose to praise You before everything falls apart. I praise You for who You are, not just for what You do. Teach me to praise You in pressure, to honor You in uncertainty, and to keep my eyes on Jesus no matter what surrounds me. I trust You completely and surrender my heart to You, in Jesus name.
