In recovery, you must learn to listen differently — and see differently.
Addiction trained you to listen to cravings.
To lies.
To emotions.
To the voice of the flesh.
It also trained you to see wrongly.
You saw pleasure instead of destruction.
You saw escape instead of bondage.
You saw temporary relief instead of eternal cost.
But Jesus is speaking.
And Jesus is revealing.
The question is not whether He speaks or moves.
The question is whether you have ears to hear and eyes to see.
Not everyone who claims Christianity is listening.
Not everyone who attends church is seeing.
But the Bride of Christ hears Him.
The Bride discerns.
The Bride prepares.
And this does not only affect eternity — it affects earthly marriage too.
“He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”
Revelation 2:7
And Jesus also declared:
“For the hearts of this people have grown dull. Their ears are hard of hearing, And their eyes they have closed…”
Matthew 13:15
Spiritual deafness and spiritual blindness are choices.
The Bride refuses both.
You can have physical ears and still be spiritually deaf.
You can have working eyes and still be spiritually blind.
Jesus said:
“And He said to them, ‘He who has ears to hear, let him hear!’”
Mark 4:9 NKJV
Addiction dulls spiritual senses. Sin clouds vision. Compromise numbs discernment. But surrender sharpens hearing and clears sight.
Now understand something powerful:
Your relationship with Jesus shapes how you function in earthly marriage.
If you cannot hear the Holy Spirit, you will struggle to hear your spouse.
If you refuse to see your own faults spiritually, you will be blind to your pride in marriage.
Two believers in marriage must both have ears to hear and eyes to see.
Why?
Because marriage reflects Christ and His Bride.
“Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her,”
Ephesians 5:25
“This is a great mystery, but I speak concerning Christ and the church.”
Ephesians 5:32
Earthly marriage is a living picture of a greater covenant.
When both husband and wife are spiritually awake:
• They discern attacks of the enemy.
• They recognize pride quickly.
• They repent faster.
• They guard their covenant fiercely.
But when one or both are spiritually dull:
• Offense festers.
• Misunderstanding grows.
• Flesh dominates.
• Distance increases.
If you are preparing as the Bride of Christ, you are also preparing to be a godly spouse.
Spiritual sensitivity protects marriage.
Jesus also warned:
“Having eyes, do you not see? And having ears, do you not hear?”
Mark 8:18
You do not want a spiritually deaf marriage.
The Bride of Christ is spiritually awake.
“Blessed are your eyes for they see, and your ears for they hear;”
Matthew 13:16
Blessed marriages are made of spiritually perceptive believers.
And hearing always leads to following.
“My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.”
John 10:27
If you follow Jesus well, you will love your spouse well.
And never forget:
“Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready.”
Revelation 19:7
She made herself ready.
Your recovery is preparation for eternity.
And it is preparation for covenant faithfulness now.

PRAYER
Abba Father,
Open my ears to hear Your voice clearly and open my eyes to see truth without distortion. Remove anything in me that dulls my spiritual senses. Cleanse my heart from compromise, distraction, and pride.
Prepare me as part of the Bride of Christ — awake, discerning, and faithful. Teach me to follow quickly when You speak and to repent quickly when I am wrong.
If I am married, help me reflect Christ in my covenant. Make me spiritually sensitive so that my marriage is protected by obedience and humility. Let my recovery shape me into a faithful spouse and a faithful Bride.
I want to be ready — now and for eternity. Count me worthy to be Your Bride.
