Your story matters more than you think. The life you lived before Jesus, and the life you now live because of Him, carries the power to break chains, silence lies, and bring hope to someone still trapped in darkness. The world may call your past “a disease,” but God calls it “sin forgiven.” Your story is proof that Jesus still heals, still restores, and still sets captives free.
WHY IS THIS STUDY NEEDED IN RECOVERY?
This study is needed in your recovery because many people coming out of addiction are told they will “always be in recovery.” That is not the truth of the Gospel. Jesus did not die to leave us half-free. He healed us completely and gave us a new identity. The world’s recovery programs may try to manage old behaviors, but your story is living proof that Christ changes hearts from the inside out. Sharing the testimony of what He has done in your life becomes a weapon that tears down lies and builds up faith.
“And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.”
Revelation 12:11
Your story is not about showcasing your sin; it’s about declaring the power of your Savior. When you speak of what Jesus has done, you remind the world—and yourself—that freedom is not a process, it is a person. Jesus said:
“Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.”
John 8:36
Your story shines light into darkness. Every time you share how Jesus delivered you, the devil loses power. The shame that once silenced you becomes your testimony of grace. People need to see living proof that transformation is real—and that proof is you.
Paul’s life is a clear example. Once a persecutor, now a preacher, he declared:
“But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not in vain.”
1 Corinthians 15:10
Your story also reminds others that no one is too far gone. When you speak of your past and proclaim who you are now in Christ, you tear down the labels of “addict,” “broken,” or “hopeless.” You replace them with “forgiven,” “healed,” and “free.” That is the ministry of reconciliation at work: turning sin into testimony and bondage into blessing.
Sharing your story strengthens your faith too. Each time you recount what Jesus has done, you honor Him again. It’s how gratitude grows. Never hide what He’s healed—shout it as proof that He alone deserves the glory.
“Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom He has redeemed from the hand of the enemy.”
Psalm 107:2

PRAYER
Abba Father, thank You for setting me free through Jesus. I thank You that my story belongs to You, and that my past no longer defines me—Your love does. Give me courage to speak boldly about what You’ve done in my life. Help me to see every opportunity as a chance to lift up the name of Jesus. Remind me daily that my story brings You glory and offers hope to others who are still bound. I will testify of Your goodness and never be ashamed of the Gospel that saved me.
In Jesus’ Name, amen.
