“Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.”
— Romans 8:26, NKJV
Sometimes the hurt runs so deep that words will not come. You sit quietly, trying to pray, but all you have are tears, exhaustion, or a heart too overwhelmed to explain what is wrong. God has not turned away. His Spirit helps you in that very weakness.
In recovery, these moments can tempt you to reach for an old escape. Bring your weary heart to Jesus instead. You do not need an impressive prayer or a carefully arranged explanation. Begin with whatever you have: “Jesus, help me.” If even those words feel difficult, sit quietly before Him. He knows the burden you cannot put into words.
Your inability to find words does not make you unreachable to God. The Holy Spirit intercedes, and Jesus invites you to come. Open your Bible, read a psalm slowly, or ask a trusted believer to pray with you. Let weakness become a reason to draw near.
GOAL FOR TODAY: Spend five quiet minutes with Jesus. Bring Him your silence, your tears, or one simple sentence: “Lord, I need You.”
PRAYER: Abba Father, I do not know how to express everything inside me, but You know my heart. Thank You that Your Spirit helps me in my weakness. Keep me close when I feel overwhelmed, and help me turn to You instead of seeking escape. Teach me to rest in Your presence and trust You with my next step, in Jesus’ holy and Almighty name, amen.
